Billy J Burke is an artist practicing on the land of the Cadigal people. 

He has an extensive career in painting, sound engineering and community-based art practices supported by a steady output of critically acclaimed work. 

Billy has worked extensively as an artist, engineer, musician and gallery manager. After completing his Master of Fine Arts at COFA, UNSW in 2010 he pursued a career in music, and found success with the band Yes I'm Leaving with whom he has toured extensively in Australia and the USA. He has worked with local and international record labels and booking agencies, with work featured in New Musical Express, Rolling Stone and Spin.

 He has held studios at Parramatta Artist Studios and Monster Mouse, and provided chair and gallery support at Cold Cuts Project Space ARI, Petersham from 2017-8. In 2023-4 he exhibited at First Draft, Airspace and Elavator ARI contributing collaborate sound works and paintings.

Now focusing primarily on visual , assemblage, and sound art, Billy holds a studio at Soundworks Art Hub in Marrickville.
